Visit the Marina at Stonewall Resort

With the West Virginia mountains as your backdrop, cruise along the peaceful waters of the lake on a pontoon boat or CraigCat from the resort's marina. We will gladly prepare box lunches for your voyage to complete your relaxing day of fun in the sun. Boat & Slip Rentals

The Marina at Stonewall Resort includes a boat launch, pontoon rentals, CraigCat rentals, gasoline sales, marina shop and a variety of boat slips available to overnight and day guests. The Marina also offers guided fishing trips with advance reservation. CraigCat Premium Comptact Powerboat Rentals
Stonewall Resort now offers CraigCats! CraigCats sit up to two people and are an awesome alternative to jet skis or pontoon boats. These boats are very stable in the water, easy to maneuver and a blast to drive. They're also great for fishing!  

The Marina offers 3 top-of-the-line, high-performance CraigCat E2 Elites. This model is equipped with the following features:

  • Two comfortable high-back deluxe bucket seats.
  • 25 hp electric key start engine.
  • Four fishing rod holders.
  • Easy to use stick steering and dual action controls with Automatic Stability Control (ASC).
  • Suspension system for a smooth comfortable ride.
  • Tough seamless polyethylene, foam filled, unsinkable rotomolded pontoons.
  • Large full width composite storage compartment.
  • User friendly JBL AM/FM/USB/Bluetooth sound system with high definition marine speakers.

Price Includes:

One tank of gas and life jackets. Must be 21 years of age with a valid driver's license to rent equipment. Rentals are available 9am-5pm. Must have a valid WV fishing license to fish in Stonewall Jackson Lake. Please note that we no longer are able to permit pets on our boats.    

"Weekend" includes Fri-Sun and "Weekday" includes Mon-Thurs.

Boats over 10 feet in width must rent 2 adjacent slips and may use the additional space to dock a small craft belonging to the renter only (Proof of ownership required). Additional regulations apply. Refer to Lease Agreement for details.

Top Water in West Virginia!
The 2,600 acre Stonewall Jackson Lake is listed as one of the top West Virginia waters for Muskellunge and Crappie according to the Charleston Gazette. Also, the lake is one of the best bass fishing lakes in West Virginia.

LARGEMOUTH BASS
Good all season long. Best Time: Spring and early summer (April, May and June) when water temperature is about 55-65 degrees. Spawning occurs in about 2-4 feet of water when water temperature hits 60 degrees. Fish for Bass in 4-10 feet of water, standing timber, shore line rip rap (large rocks), and drop offs in the lake bottom. Favorite baits are spinner baits, plastic baits and top water plugs. Stonewall Jackson Lake is the number one bass fishing lake in the state for ten years. Catch and release regulations on all Black Bass in this lake (Largemouth, Smallmouth and Spotted Bass).

CRAPPIE
Good all season long. Best Time: In the spring when the water temperature is between 50-60 degrees. Crappie will move to shallow flats to spawn at about 60 degrees. The rest of the year they can be found around standing timber and bridge abutments in about 8-15 feet of water. Favorite baits are live bait with bobber, small jigs and small spinners.

BLUEGILL
Good all season long. Best Time: Spring and summer. Bluegills spawn in 1-6 feet of water when water temperature hits 70 degrees. They can be found the rest of the year around standing timber and shallow coves. Favorite baits are live bait under bobber, small jigs and small spinners.

YELLOW PERCH
Good all season long. Best Time: Spring and summer. They can be caught in the same area as Bluegill and Crappie. Favorite baits are minnows on lead jig heads and bottom minnow rigs.

SAUGEYE
Good all season long. Hybird cross between a walleye and sauger. Best Time: Early spring when water temperature is between 40-50 degrees. Try around rocky and sudden drop offs. Favorite baits are jigs tipped with minnows or worms and bottom bouncing rigs with night crawlers, slender jerk baits and small crank baits.

MUSKIE
Good all season long. Best Time: Early spring and summer. Among North America’s largest fresh water fish and it is found right here in Stonewall Jackson Lake. Try upper end tributaries of the lake in spring when fish are spawning. In the summer try main lake. Muskie lurk in places where they can ambush forage fish (shallow coves and standing timber). Favorite baits are casting shallow running plugs, spinners and trolling large deep diving plugs.

If you prefer to keep your feet on the rolling countryside, try hiking, biking, tennis, golfing and Segway riding. Time in the spa is always a delight and simply relaxing with no set agenda is an official activity here!

The lodge’s heated indoor/outdoor pool and patio area is our most popular gathering spot, in every season. Warm days here afford peaceful lake views and easy access to your favorite foods and beverages. The area is magical at night with our flaming fire pit and the glow of bistro lighting. Comfy seating encourages guests to gather to make new friends, share stories and enjoy the tradition of making S’mores. The stars are always brightest in the fall and winter, and the large fire pit, heated pool and hot tubs keep our cold-weather star gazers toasty warm.

The Mountain Lakes Region of West Virginia provides many recreation opportunities. American Mountain Theater – 50 minutes away

Located in the Historic Rail Yard in downtown Elkins, West Virginia, the American Mountain Theater is the state’s first and only “Branson Style” family-friendly, music and comedy variety show.  

Clarksburg Amphitheater – 35 minutes away

This 2,000 seat outdoor venue hosts several major concerts each summer as well as a weekly "Movies in the Park" series. Recent performers have included the likes of Florida Georgia Line, Jake Owen, Phillip Phillips, Aaron Lewis, Kansas and more. 

WINERIES

Batton Hollow Winery – 25 minutes away

One of the area's newest wineries. This facility is located in Lost Creek, WV and welcomes visitors for tastings!   

Forks of Cheat Winery – 1 hour, 15 minutes away

Nestled in the Appalachian Mountains of north central West Virginia, Forks of Cheat Winery produces a wide variety of prize winning wines crafted from French hybrid and American varietal grapes.  

Heston Farm Winery – 45 minutes away

Heston Farm has created a variety of exceptional quality WV wines that even the most discerning wine drinker will appreciate. The property is also home to Foxfire Restaurant and Pinchgut Hollow Distillery.   

Kirkwood Winery – 1 hour away

Located in the heart of the mountains of West Virginia, Kirkwood offers wines flavored by the rich mountain tradition reflective of their Appalachian heritage.   

Lambert's Vintage Winery – 15 minutes away

This nearby winery is constructed from hand cut stones gathered from various parts of West Virginia. With daily tours, tastings and wood fired pizza on Wednesdays, this winery is a favorite stop for resort guests.

HISTORY

Stonewall Jackson Dam – 10 minutes away
Stonewall Jackson Dam has the capability to store the equivalent run-off of 7.1 inches of precipitation from its 101.8 square mile drainage area. To date, Stonewall Jackson has prevented flood damages estimated to be nearly $236 million.

Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum –  15 minutes away
Formerly a sanctuary for the mentally ill in the mid-1800's, the asylum is must-see attraction for guided historic as well as paranormal tours. 

WVU Jackson's Mill –  15 minutes away
Experience early Appalachian life at the boyhood home of Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson. The Historic District includes the following: The Jackson Family Mill Museum, The Blaker Grist Mill, The McWhorter Cabin, Mountain State Heritage Center and The Mary Conrad Cabin. Guided tours are offered.

The museum is open to public, private, organizational and educational tours.

Ron Hinkle Glass – 35 minutes away
Expressions of art are created in many mediums. Down through the ages one of the most mystifying has been the art of glass blowing. Ron's fascination with the infinite possibilities of glass inspired him to create beautiful works of art and establish Ron Hinkle Glass.
